Sea transportation is probably one of the most economical ways to ship dangerous goods overseas. However, strict rules apply through the SOLAS (Safety of Life at Sea) agreement and the International Maritime Organization (IMO). International shipments must therefore comply with both the International Maritime Dangerous Goods (IMDG) Code and national transportation regulations. Initial Training - TR-IMO10
This is an entry- level program designed for the beginner or anyone new to the regulations for shipping dangerous goods by sea. It is a comprehensive program designed to take the participant through the 7 Steps to Compliance.
Refresher Training - TR-IMO11
This is a refresher program that provides regulation updates for shipping by sea to experienced participants.

Description

The IMDG Code is in conjunction with government regulations under the International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea and was developed as a uniform international code for the transport of dangerous goods by sea covering such matters as packing, container traffic and stowage, with particular reference to the segregation of incompatible substances. Also available in French.The two-volume Code is divided into seven parts:Volume 1 (parts 1, 2 and 4-7 of the Code) contains:
  • General provisions, definitions, training
  • classification
  • Packing and tank provisions (new packing instructions)
  • Consignment procedures
  • Construction and testing of packaging's, IBC's, large packaging's, portable tanks and road tank vehicles
  • Transport operations
